BAYELSA: Gov Diri lauded for supporting sports development

By Emem Idio, Yenagoa The Governor of Bayelsa State Senator Douye Diri has been commended for his unquenchable love and commitment for sports development generally, and for endowing a tournament in his name with the hosting of the maiden edition of the Gov. Douye Diri National Scrabble Championship in Yenagoa. The 1st Gov. Douye Diri National Scrabble Championship which began last Friday ended in Yenagoa, the State capital on Sunday on a note high and was graced by the Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri, represented by his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the President of the Nigeria Scrabble Federation, Mallam Sulaiman Gora, as well as the former NSF President, Mr. Toke Aka. Counter-insurgency: Military achieving commendable successes through inter-agency collaboration – COAS

The Chief of Army Staff, Maj.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, says the military has achieved commendable successes in its counter-insurgency operations due to he renewed and enhanced inter-agency collaboration between services and security agencies. Yahaya made this at the opening of an Inter-agency Seminar, organised by the Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) for its Course 5 participants, on Monday in Abuja. The theme of the seminar is “Effective Coordination of Security Agencies Towards Improved Internal Security of Nigeria”. Represented by the Chief of Civil Mikitary Affairs (Army), Maj.-Gen. Anthony Omizoje, the COAS, said that all the existing security threats were surmountable through effective collaboration between security agencies. Friday, 14th May 2021, was the 18th birthday of the ambassador of Christ- Leah Sharibu. No one will be surprised if she didn’t even remember her special day due to obvious reasons.
