After wedding drama

I was not there; I saw the video like many others. The narrative said it happened in Kilo, Ikate, Surulere, Lagos. A newly-wed man walked out on his wife during their wedding reception; saying “I no dey do again” (I am not marrying her anymore),while putting both hands at the back of his neck/head (a sign of despair). His wife was running after him, throwing herself on the ground, but the guy insisted he was done. FOUR YEARS AFTER: Buhari in the eyes of critics, supporters

ON May 29, 2015, history was made in Nigeria when an opposition political party took over the seat of power from an incumbent president. Before the tsunami that swept away the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP under the captaincy of President Goodluck Jonathan, many political analysts had predicted a landslide victory for the PDP. The argument was that it was unthinkable that the incumbent government with the control of security apparatus and other resources could lose to the opposition. For some, even if the number of votes for the opposition was ‘miraculously’ higher than that of the incumbent, the power of brute force could be applied to upturn the situation. CROSS RIVER:  Will Ayade sustain momentum?

CALABAR- Professor Ben Ayade, governor of Cross River State is an enigma. He is a man of many feathers: a politician, academic, businessman and an environmentalist. He holds a Ph.D and also LLB in Law. His name did not ring a bell in Cross River State politics until 2007 when from the blues he took a shot at the Senate post for the Northern Senatorial district of the state. Night operations now possible at Benin Airport

In opening up sub-national economies for growth, there are a number of parameters to ensure that the successes are not knee-jerk or short-lived. Much as states adopt different methods to suit their peculiar needs, development economists argue that among other things, growth is mostly achieved through expansion of the space for economic activities, with emphasis on freeing up markets and providing the environment to attract and keep private investments.
